Located off Wrightsboro Road in Grovetown, Georgia, Canterbury Trails Equestrian Center offers 136 beautifully shaded acres for your riding pleasure. Opened just three years ago, this select facility provides a variety of instruction and activities while opening its heart to the special needs of the community. Upon the owner's return to their hometown of Augusta, their search began for a place to board their two horses. It turned out to be quite a challenge. Nearly five years later, they decided to purchase some land and just build a barn. After months of searching, Peggy and Ric found some property in Grovetown with an old thirteen-stall barn that needed a great deal of work but had enormous potential. They envisioned a place where people of all ages could come and share their love of horses and nature, a place with something for everyone. Most of all, a place where special needs children and adults could benefit from the unique relationships with horses and other types of animals.

Peggy had dreamed of having her own barn since taking lessons as a child. It was with three employees, two horses, hard work and a lot of determination, that the dream began to unfold. Peggy and Ric, worked diligently to create an outstanding equestrian center. |

The Grand Opening, in the fall of 2000, with representation from Senator Max Cleland's office, marked an important event for the CSRA and an avenue of opportunity for its residents and visitors. Shortly after, an Open House was also held, with hundreds of people enjoying hayrides, pony rides, hot dogs and various other activities and refreshments. It was a day of family fun for one and all! |

| Mr. Charley, the barn manager, greets the children as they come off the bus and ushers them onto the hayride, which carries them back to the petting zoo. Many classes bring bag lunches to eat in one of the designated picnic areas. If they don't know “Old MacDonald Had a Farm” before they arrive, they surely will before they leave. |

Family, especially Peggy and Ric's children, friends, employees and volunteers have made it possible to accomplish so much in such a short time. Canterbury Trails wishes to thank each and every person who has helped make it the success that it has become. |
